Abhijit Ray

Abhijit has nearly 20 years of diverse experience in development finance, commercial banking and microfinance. At UC, Abhijit has played a key role in developing and building the firm’s business, particularly in the microfinance sector. Previously, Abhijit was an AGM with the Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI), where he oversaw SIDBI’s microfinance portfolio in the state of Andhra Pradesh, and also acted as the business development manager for SME projects. Abhijit started his career with the State Bank of India (SBI), where he worked in a variety of business areas in six different locations within India. Abhijit has co-authored articles on microfinance in international journals and is regularly quoted in leading national dailies in India.
Abhijit has a Bachelors degree in economics from Kolkata University and is a Certified Associate of IIBF, Mumbai. He has also attended the School of Applied Microfinance Program in Kenya and the Program on Strategic Leadership for Microfinance at the Harvard Business School.

Amit joined Unitus in 2015. He is a career investment banker with over 15 years of Investment Banking experience. He oversees business development and end-to-end execution of the transactions, fosters relationships with investors and entrepreneurs.
Sector coverage & expertise: He is responsible for the agriculture sector, financial services – microfinance and MSME Finance, climate space.
Previous work experience: Ladderup Corporate Advisory and Syntel India.
Education: Amit has done his MBA from ICFAI Business School, Mumbai, and Bachelor of Management Studies from Mumbai University.
Other interests: Amit is a fitness enthusiast – he spends most of his weekend mornings running and cycling.
Amit Jhanvar

Amit Jhanvar joined Unitus Capital in April 2015, with over 9 years of work experience in investment banking and research background. He has both debt and equity transaction experience and has worked across industries from consumers to industrials, healthcare, renewable energy, agriculture & allied industries, etc.

Amit Kumar Rathi

Amit has 20+ years of post-qualification experience, which includes 15 years in the broad PE/VC investing and M&A either as an investment banker, diligence advisor, or as an investor, along with experience in audit and accounting. During these years, he has experience working on deals across multiple industries and complex, multiple deals (small to billion-dollar deals). He raised capital for many companies benefiting those at the bottom of the economic pyramid in microfinance, renewable energy, healthcare, and education.
Amit was earlier part of the founding team at TVS Capital funds, where he worked in fundraising and investing. He was also part of the diligence team and specialized in infrastructure deals (healthcare and power sector) at KPMG. Amit has experience from Elevar Equity and the World Bank as well.
Amit is a Chartered Accountant and a graduate in Commerce, and he has cleared the CPA exam from the state of Michigan.
Ann Short

Ann joined Unitus Capital in 2008 and has over 25 years of experience in the financial services industry. Previously, she served as COO of Global Corporate and Investment Banking at Bank of America Securities, and was an Executive Vice President at NASD (now FINRA) where she launched a strategic initiative to support brokerage firm regulatory compliance. Ann began her career as an investment banker at Morgan Stanley, where she worked for 18 years, rising to Managing Director. From 1994 to 1997, Ann was based in Hong Kong and Beijing where her clients included the People’s Republic of China, as well as leading corporations throughout Asia, non-Japan. Upon her return from Asia, Ann worked on the Morgan Stanley/Dean Witter merger transition team and subsequently joined Morgan Stanley’s Fixed Income Division as Head of Global High Yield Corporate Research.
Ann has an MS degree in Management from the MIT Sloan School and a BA degree from Wellesley College.
Eric Savage

Eric has 25+ years of investment banking experience. He moved to India in 2007 to help set up Unitus Capital (UC), an impact-focused investment bank and has led the company in raising almost US$3 billion for various impact businesses. He has had the privilege of working with many innovative companies that operate in financial inclusion, affordable healthcare, renewable energy, affordable education, women empowerment, and agriculture. Under his leadership, UC has been ranked the #1 Indian investment bank by Venture Intelligence for the past six years.
Previously, Eric ran Citigroup’s Asian investment banking franchise in the power and infrastructure sectors and helped secure and execute multiple landmark equity, debt and M&A transactions, totalling many billions of dollars. Eric was based in NYC and Hong Kong for 14 years with Citigroup/Salomon Brothers. He also headed Salomon’s utilities sector equity research and was selected to Institutional Investors’ All-Asia research team.
Eric is a graduate (cum laude) of Duke University and Harvard’s Kennedy School, where he received the Lucius N. Littauer Fellow Award, the program’s top honor. Eric serves on the boards of several leading companies, funds and educational institutions. In 2014, Eric was named Indian Expat Entrepreneur of the Year by Expat Entrepreneurs Circle. In 2016, he was awarded the Indira Gandhi Sadbhawana Award for his contributions to the impact investing sector. He is a highly sought after speaker, particularly in the impact investing world. Eric is a Fellow of the inaugural class of the Aspen Institute’s Finance Leaders Fellowship Program.
Other interests: Eric is an avid reader, aspiring surfer, Aspen Institute Fellow; he is offensively health-conscious and tries to be a fun father to his and Phyllis’ four children
Kylie Charlton

Kylie has worked at the intersection of mainstream capital markets, impact investment and philanthropy since 2004 when she joined the team at Unitus Labs to lead their capital markets initiative. During her time at Unitus Labs, Kylie facilitated the delivery of growth capital for microfinance institutions across seven emerging countries and was instrumental in the launch of the Unitus Equity Fund, the first commercially focused microfinance equity investment fund. In 2008, Kylie co-founded Unitus Capital on the basis of this work and a commitment to mobilising capital to enable the success of businesses providing innovative market based solutions to environmental and social challenges.
In her home country of Australia, Kylie has been a key contributor to the development and growth of its impact investment sector. Her work in Australia includes authoring submissions and participating in round tables for commissioned studies of the Australian Government in regard to the development of the market for impact investment; consulting to and serving as an ex-officio committee member for the Australian Government in regard to Social Enterprise Development and Investment Fund (SEDIF); and co-authoring the feasibility assessment study and surveying investor appetite for the NSW Social Benefit Bonds (also referred to as social impact bonds) issued in 2013, which were the first in Australia and among the first in the world. Kylie is the Chief Investment Officer for Australian Impact Investments, a Venture Partner to the Giant Leap Fund – the first venture capital fund in Australia dedicated to impact businesses and an investment committee member of the Indigenous Real Estate Investment Trust. She also lectures on impact investment for the University of New South Wales and University of Western Australia.
Prior to transitioning her career to impact investment, Kylie was Vice President in the Project and Structured Finance Group of Citigroup, with more than 10 years experience in commercial and investment banking in New York and Sydney.
Kylie graduated in Commerce (Banking and Finance) at University of Canberra and has an MBA from the Saïd Business School at the University of Oxford in England.
Vikas Sarda
Vikas joined Unitus in 2009. He has helped develop the processes/ procedures and relevant controls to build financial integrity. He leads the finance and operations team, including the finance & accounting team, investor reporting, cash management etc. He has over two decades of experience spearheading the finance function and managing alternative funds. His experience specializes him in unlocking shareholders value by structuring transactions and businesses.
Previous work experiences: Prior to Unitus, he worked with Max New York Life Insurance and WNS.
Education: Vikas is a Chartered Accountant and has Honors in commerce from Delhi University
Other interests: He has recently discovered his interest in biking, and he wants to do a ride covering various countries in Europe
