Unitus Capital was founded in July 2008 by international nonprofit Unitus, Inc. and several committed investors.

Unitus Capital was founded in July, 2008 by the international non-profit, Unitus Inc. and several committed leading global investors to accelerate the development of the capital markets for social businesses in Asia and eventually globally. Since it's founding, UC has focused on providing best-in-class financial advisory services to its growing client base. The Company has a strong track record in delivering capital markets expertise to Asian social businesses, particularly Indian microfinance institutions (MFIs).

 

Unitus Capital's clients are innovative and skilled social entrepreneurs or investors dedicated to positive social change, especially that benefitting those at the bottom of the economic pyramid. In 2009, the Company's first full year of operations, revenues were almost wholly from microfinance clients. The Company closed its first transaction outside the financial services sector in March 2011, and almost half of Unitus Capital's current US$350 million+ deal pipeline is in BoP healthcare, education, renewable energy, technology and affordable housing.
